Planet Descriptions

Cratered

The cratered planet type consists of, well, many craters. These craters not only provide a home for the civilian and military population, but they are also what shape every aspect of life on this planet. Cratered planets are constantly being bombarded with asteroids and space debris from past wars. In order to protect the population of the planet, huge shields and asteroid protection systems were enabled. To handle this power-consuming burden, the cratered planet's population has mastered the art of efficient power production. Using heat vents from under the surface and the gravitational pull of their own planet, they have increased power production. This power increase also charges their military to the point where their troops return faster than they normally would. However, this causes some troops to become lost on the missions due to high speeds and inaccurate location programming, and thus they must send extra military to be sure of achieving their objective.

Volcanic

This is a planet type more dangerous than any other. With lava flows constantly moving, the people had to be quick to move as well. After discovering a way to travel through wormholes in the very fabric of the universe around us, the volcanic planet's population found a way to move very fast, whether it be to the local un-suntanning beds or to distant galaxies. This gives them a significantly faster journey to anywhere in the universe. Also, because everyone on the planet works so fast and is able to pay all of their bills on time, the financial credit of the planet is excellent and provides an income bonus. However, since the planet is constantly erupting and destroying military bases, a decrease in military defense has plagued this planet type.

Oceanic

A race of people rarely ever seen live in this underwater haven. They are as a whole, a very secluded race that focuses more on maintaining their homes than stealing from others. Because they enjoy their planet type so much, they have gone to great pains to make sure it is well-protected at all times. With this added planet defense, they have a nice defense bonus. This was enough in past years, but recently large armies have started arriving on their shores to take over this resource-abundant land. Due to these invasions happening more and more frequently, the oceanic people will sometimes attempt to take over other planet types as a form of self-defense. Since they rarely leave their ocean homes, they always achieve the element of surprise that gives them a small attack bonus. However, this race is constantly researching defensive techniques over other crucial technologies and this gives them a sizeable research disadvantage.

Mountainous

When you live in this planet type, you're always in the mile-high club. With beautiful landscape and fresh air, what other reason would you need to live here? Oh yeah, money. The mountains of these planets are filled with some of the largest gold, diamond, and uranium mines known in the universe. Through extensive mining and a huge trade network, the mountainous planet has a hefty income bonus. Not only do these mountains provide a limitless source of income, they are also an excellent natural shield against storms and invaders. This gives a small but helpful defense bonus to the people of the planet. However, mining takes a big toll on the planet's power supply. To mine all the resources and to ship them all over the universe, extra power is needed thus giving them less power to support their population and military.

Desert

Do you remember those people called nomads that you always heard about in your early social studies classes? Well, these people make them look like sissies. Known for their resistance to disease and physical toil, the desert planet's population is made for war. Like the ancient Spartans, the entire social structure of this planet is structured around war. Through early military training and extensive physical and mental challenges, the desert warriors need fewer troops than any other planet type to conquer the same territory. Some of the best scientists in the galaxy work here as well, studying the strange resistance these people have to disease, which is why a research bonus is also achieved. However, the military training is so harsh and rigorous that a sizeable percent of the people on this planet die during it. This gives desert planets a population decrease, but a small price to pay for some of the most frightening warriors in the universe.

Arctic

The arctic planet is, well, cold. So cold that until a few years ago, life was unsustainable on this planet type. However, a group of scientists had the bright idea to use this planet type's weakness, low temperature, to finally reach absolute zero, and after several unsuccessful attempts, this feat was finally achieved. Not only did this create a new energy source using superconduction, but also the capability to live on this planet. Giant weather machines could now be run and habitable spheres were created. The scientists attracted a lot of publicity and soon people from all over were moving to these arctic planets. Because of the abundance of scientists and constant immigrants, a nice research bonus and a population bonus are in effect. However, since this planet is lacking in known resources, a noticeable income decrease plagues this planet type.

Jungle

The jungle planet is filled with lush vegetation and animals and an abundance of population. With resources such as food and animals and rich cultivation soil, jungle planets are perfect breeding grounds. On average, jungle planets have a much higher population than all other planets. Not only that, but they use all the rivers for hydroelectric power and there are a lot of rivers. With this increase in power production, they also have a power bonus. The big disadvantage to this planet type is the army's inability to leave this planet type quickly, because of the dense jungle and the large number of rivers that must be crossed. The army has tried for a long time to clear many wooded areas but the planet's chapter of GreenPeace has so far been successful in preventing that, leaving the army to return significantly slower than most.

Terran

This planet type is the most simple, benign, and comfortable of all the planet types. The main principle of a terran planet's population is to achieve harmony amongst everyone that lives on it. Not trying too hard to focus in any particular area, the terran planet type uses a well-round approach to keep up with the other planet types that have huge advantages in certain areas but huge disadvantages in others. A truly honorable people who have eschewed all advantages so they can boast that they have no weaknesses.
